Someone with a nice smile

Veneers can be absolutely incredible for your smile. If you’re unhappy with the alignment of your teeth, their color, or their shape, this treatment can make all of those concerns disappear within as little as two appointments. With all that this treatment is capable of, it’s easy for veneers to give you a completely new smile!

You might wonder if this means that you’ll also have to adopt a brand-new diet. If you’re curious about what you’ll have to eat with your veneers, here’s what you should know about what kind of diet you’ll need.

What Can I Eat with My Veneers?

Generally speaking, veneers are strong enough to eat just about anything that you could with your regular teeth. You don’t necessarily have to modify your diet for the sake of your veneers.

However, there are some foods that you might eat despite knowing that they aren’t the best for your teeth. However, now that you’ve made a substantial investment in your smile, you might want to avoid them.

Hard candy, for example, can easily crack your veneers, as can bones in your food or corn on the cob. Moreover, many of these sweets can create cavities underneath your veneers, which will require you to replace them. For that reason, you might want to avoid these foods now that you have your new dental work.

A Diet for your Temporary Veneers

Typically, most people will need to wear temporary veneers while their permanent ones are being made in a lab. These temporaries will be made from acrylic and attached to the teeth with a much weaker cement than with your permanents.

These veneers staying in place is critically important in order to protect the teeth, which means that most patients will need to modify their diet for a few weeks to avoid disturbing these temporary restorations.

Many patients take on a soft food diet during this time, consisting of nutritious foods that are easy to chew. This doesn’t have to be bland; everything from eggs to tender brisket, smoothies to yogurt are on the table.

By adhering to these dietary restrictions, you’ll be able to enjoy much greater comfort and better oral health in the long run.
